Tire deterioration would be from exposure to sunlight and ozone, and from sitting flat,
which might damage sidewall cords. Cracking
is not the only problem, tread rubber will
also harden, reducing grip. Three years is
old enough to be concerned that the tires are
not as good as they should be, but not long
enough to be worried about catastrophic failure,
if there are no visible signs of deterioration
like sidewall cracks.
